    Hello Adey Can this particular model be used with black iron pipe rather than copper pipe?

  • @Professional_Youtube_Commenter
    @Professional_Youtube_Commenter 3 года назад

    great, the only thing is rust is virtually non-magnetic. it will catch some iron oxides, but not all. a lot of it will still get into the head exchanger and block it up. Why doesn't this have a mesh filter of some sort?

    • @davidcoyle7125
      @davidcoyle7125 Год назад

      Late reply, what i have seen in my magnaclean is that because the magnaclean has a wider body than the pipe work debris naturally falls to the bottom of the filter plus theres a sort of swril chamber at the bottom of magnacleans to catch any thing the magnet does not, Only my own view but well worth fitting and a shame not to if for any reason the heating system is drained for repairs etc.

      They sure can, you install the canister valves without the provided spaced. Just make sure the can is in the upright position. I usually slip a bend down from the top valve. You can easily use a 45⁰ end feed joint coupling too.

    A good simple how to, but not sure how I'd apply that in the real world. Perhaps you can help? I own a Magnacleanse, but not yet used it on its own i.e. without a powerflushing pump. The question I have for you is how you can drain a system via the flexible hose when the connections are at a higher level than the base of radiators. It would seem that, in practice, you'd still have to drain at a low point to get all, or nearly all the water out. Let's face it: many, many, systems have radiators on several drops and some drops have no drain valves, so you are stuck with slackening off the compression nuts and catching water in a cat litter type tray to achieve full drainage. How essential is it to remove all the residual MC5? The fact that it is 'suitable for all systems' suggests it is non acidic, but does that mean a simple drain down is sufficient, even if there may be a few litres of water left in the system?

    Regarding "leaking" of this product - (see leck 31 and M Guest below) . I think there is a flaw in the design / install instructions of this product - and indeed .... confusion in the actual fitting instructions which don't specifically refer to compression fittings ends "A" and "B" - and ... which goes uppermost * ( the only thing that does imply this is with the diagrams in the instructions showing shut off taps facing forward... ( and I couldn't fit this way - they had to fit facing the other way - with the magnafilter facing forwards) ( * And does that actually matter - since it is said later on that the flow direction doesn't matter - but - since "one" end has a defined length that the pipe can enter the compression fitting .. and the other end allows "slip" .. .then it makes for easier fitting if the defined length fitting is placed lower most so gravity /weight of the unit assists the assembly of the lower compression joint .,, ensuring the pipe enters the fitting fully ---- HOWEVER - see below ** ( Note - only place instructions refer to "A" and "B" is "where " in the CH "flow" circuit where the product should or should not be fitted The basic problem as I see it is: Removing 150 mm of pipe actually leaves very little pipe entering into each compression joint !!, ( ie I think its TOO long !! -see my notes below) So - If you aren't careful - you can end up with one compression olive very close to the end of the pipe - see : **!! -and that means a likely hood of a poor seal from the olive; - and - I think what then happens is .. because it takes a fair amount of torque to remove the cap for access to the magnetic filter inside for cleaning etc .. it is very easy to "rotate " the whole unit on the compression joints if they aren't "tight" - and ... as we all know ... disturb a compession joint at your peril !! .. ... and then it weeps .. and the only real solution to that is dissasmble it ( ie Drian the *****y system AGAIN ) - clean - and re-seat the olive . I reckon this is WHY the product leaks ( **!! as I did as I had to install this product " with the shutoff valves facing the OTHER direction for that shown in the video - as They could not be easily accessed if fitted facing forward ) - which means the compression fitting / shutoff valve with the shorter "internal bore" is uppermost - and the "long bore" port lowermost - So ... I resolved this problem by replacing the lower length of pipe ( that of course I'd now cut !!! in my installation ( it was fairly easy as there was only about 300mm of this pipe to a soldered 22mm equal tee - and quickly heating this joint - removing pipe - and replacing with another pipe of length about 15mm longer ( ie reducing the "cut" length from 150mm to 135mm - which then meant the pipe on the shorter bore end fits against the step in diameter ( as it would on any usual compression fitting .. and ... the other "new" end is now long enough to fit well into the other "slip" end thus ensuring the olive fits snug .. and there is sufficient pipe "inside" the fitting to ensure a secure joint In this case - the product fits as one would expect - pipes nice and secure - and no movement of the unit when the cap is removed / refitted Or put another way .. don't cut 150 mm - more like 135 mm ?

    How do you know when radiator is 1/2 full ?? - and -exactly how do you control that ? ( dudicous use of bleed valve ?? ) - think you conveniently skipped over this vital part - which impacts on the successful removal of debris using vibration from sds drill?

    • @ADEYInnovation
      @ADEYInnovation 6 лет назад

      Hi Eric, thanks for your query. When filling the system up do not bleed the radiators, turn the boiler on and allow to heat up. The bottom of the radiator will only be warm. When the system is hot start to bleed the radiators one at a time and feel the heat rise up the radiator until HALF FULL approximately. Half fill the radiator to concentrate the chemical into the bottom of the radiators (cold spots). With the air above the water, movement will aid the magnetite to lift when agitated. ADEY training courses are available around the country in the following locations: Cheltenham, Blackburn, Co Durham, Bedford, Chichester and Okehampton. Not trying to be 'that guy' but you've got a spelling error in the description. Also, how does the unit auto bleed off the air introduced when cleaning? Is that manual with the valve or does it just get pushed into the central heating network? If it is manual, surely the pressure release valve would squirt water out when you use it (assuming you bleed out all of the air). Thanks :)
